Alternatives to - or focus on - Tokyo: neighborhoods, Hyatt, Marriott

We booked a trip May-Jun back to Japan. The main goal is going to be Osaka (nintendoworld!), Kanazawa, 1 night in Nara.

But we have probably 6-7 extra days. 2 on front end will be in Tokyo bc we arrive there. We love food, art, architecture, culture (even neighborhood vibe); not as much shopping. Will be partner and me + our college son.

We could visit one more place (have seen Hiroshima, loved it) or stay in Tokyo and do something different. We have been longtime fans of the Westin Tokyo (big rooms for fam of 3) and the PHT (no explanation needed).

As Ti Elite and Globalist, playing field is a bit leveled tho tilt towards Hyatt.

The hotel we stay at sorta influences the areas we frequent. Planning to rest up on arrival at Aloft Ginza (never stayed in this area). Was thinking Andaz Tokyo on the way out, but prefer GH neighborhood bc we havent stayed there before. Kinda thought our departure hotel would be more upscale than our arrival!

Are there other hotels/hoods I should think about? Good gateways to areas we havent explored (which are the obvious ones, Shinjuku, Shibuya, Omotesando, Harajuku?

Bonus - would love to bring my road bike and do a little riding.
