I have gate hung at CPH once a few years ago to try and get on an earlier flight - this was a result of IRROPS on the day and the only available space was on one of the late flights. In the end they let me on an earlier one as there was a no show.

However, I would say the reasons for you trying it are a bit different as it is more for your own convenience (perfectly understandable of course). So I am not sure they are going to do it for you. I doubt talking about SDC to the gate agents will get you anywhere either, they won't have a clue about it.
