Hi,

In a few days I'm connecting in AMS into BA to LHR. I'm on a plus fare that has free changes in the day.

I currently have a 10 hour wait (cheaper flight, and was going to go into the city), but after all the warnings about the crazy security in AMS, I'd rather not bother with the city, and want to try and get on one of the earlier flights.

There's one leaving about two hours after I arrive, and one about 5 hours in. Currently both flights seem full (when trying to pay to change, it's not giving me any options for the earlier flights).

If the morning if the flight the earlier flights are still full, do you think I would have any luck going to the gate and trying to get on on a standby basis, given I can change for free on the day? With the state of AMS right now, it seems still that a lot of people are missing flights due to the queues, so fully booked flights are going with empty seats. I'm HBO.
