I use my alma mater's Avis "leisure" AWD, which alumni are permitted to use. I do receive emails from the university sent to an ".edu" email address which I have as an alumnus, so I can always show one of them, and/or a certified copy of my transcript, showing the conferral of my degree.

No ".edu" email address is required at time of booking, although I think that I'm going to use it going forward.
