I've turned down jobs/projects because the company/person wouldn't spring for long haul C (short haul Y is okay). It wasn't so much the prima donna factor, more about the amount they expected me to travel and a sort of means test to see if they were a serious company/ if they understood the costs of what they were getting involved with.
As for the VS product. If it launches, it will cost BA about a billion dollars over the next five years. Some because of the money they will lose, and the majority when they have to prematurely swap/upgrade their cabins throughout their fleet to compete.
Remember something people, in 18 months BA is only going to have F on about 12 of its routes worldwide, so whether this new product beats F hands down is not the most important.
