1. My child will be 13 years old at time of travel, so if I need to book her ticket, should I choose child or adult via the AS website? Alaska booking website denotes child as under 17, whereas Japan Airlines site claims child is under 11.

2. Would I be able to call JAL to link these 3 reservations together after they ticket individually?

Reservations has the ability to book you all on one PNR and debit multiple accounts for the mileage. Yes, you’ll have to pay the phone fee, but you’ll just have one booking which is better for a multitude of reasons.
I have a slight twist to this question. I currently have an award booking for myself and two children from SFO-HND-SIN on one PNR. I would like to drop the SFO-HND segment for myself and one of the children but keep the HND-SIN segment (which I believe is allowed). The question is if Alaska would allow me to keep the 2nd child's full original itinerary intact - she is 14 yrs old. I'm not sure if she would be counted as an unaccompanied minor by Alaska Air or JL. She is not technically unaccompanied, as my wife is booked on the same flights on JL, but through AA.
