Getting caught buying or selling upgrades is a great way to get (a) your upgrade canceled and (b) your account closed. I suspect there are some GSes who simply give them away to everyone they know, but I doubt there are many GS members actively selling them. UA’s pretty good at noticing these things.
I have a non-FTer GS friend (or did, before the pandemic killed business travel). Definitely common for GS to hand out upgrades to their friends like candy since they don't have any idea how they would use them personally. I felt awkward accepting them occasionally since I felt like every GPU was worth hundreds of dollars... he thought they were worthless trinkets
