I booked an open jaw CW return (with a non-BA connecting flight on the outbound leg), with cash + eVoucher. So a slightly 'atypical' booking.
Flights are in old CW, and I don't have status, so I paid (

3 days later and MMB shows no confirmed seats, and invites me to pay to select them, although the ones I thought I'd selected appear unavailable.
Initially my credit card showed a pending total for flight + seats, but the amount that's come through to my statement so far is just for flights.
So question is, do we think the seat selection is working its way through a back office process and I'll get a second confirmed charge on my card for the seats, or did the request fail to register for whatever reason and I should do it again via MMB, re-entering payment details? I'd quite like the seats I'd originally selected, but these appear unavailable right now.
Sounds like some kind of error and i would recommend calling to check.
I would guess that the EMDs (electronic miscellaneous document) failed to issue. Where you have E-tickets in place of paper tickets, these are the electronic equivalent to a receipt for things like baggage and seating. If the card was authorised but these fail to issue the payment for seats would likely drop back to your account.
