Is this the first Urban Six Senses?
I thought the whole concept of the brand was back to nature stuff, so this seems odd. I guess if Aman can do it, then so can SS
Perhaps a Regent would have been a better fit (assuming they can command the prices they hope for). If not, then a rebranding is in its future
There is indeed a market for the urban hyper-luxury segment, taking the codes of wellness in a luxurious but relaxed contemporary environment, which allows an international clientele to enjoy the attractions of the city while having a relaxing experience and a very high quality of service (in the same way that Belmond/Cheval Blanc has some urban hotels).
This segment is more differentiating than Regent, which competes directly with the Four Seasons and other Ritz-Carltons, even though the brand, as Bvlgari, Rosewood or the newcomers like Orient-Express, aims for a more contemporary positioning than the Oetker Collection or Dorchester Collection.
A
Six Senses Rome is in the pipeline, as was a
Six Senses NYC that was to open, but whose project is now being managed by Accor under the Faena brand.
