Don’t know about the connection situation at ARN T5 but I was there several times this summer and there’s quite a small area of non-Schengen gates behind the passport control booths which BA invariably uses. So not sure if you are let into that area when you arrive or if you are funneled elsewhere.
arrivals and departures are definitely segregated. i think arrivals go upstairs to a central entry immigration point. i don't know if there is a connection point before that which will let you go back down without having to go out landside.
