I just decided to downgrade all of my cards. Don't need to status points anyway and I am drowning in points I cannot really use. (while also bracing for impact of paying 10kr/kWh or more in winter)
I didn’t have in mind so much the airline-affiliated ones.
My interest in using airline-affiliated bank cards dropped off years ago — not that it ever was high — for sort of a similar reason to yours. Fortunately, in various markets — Sweden included — there are non-airline credit cards which are in the picture and may still work out for some people’s travel/purchase patterns.
A lot of the Villa, Volvo, Vovve crowd in Sweden is going to be looking to also reduce their expenses on more discretionary things like charge/credit card fees as the energy prices and other inflation are hitting them and going to hit hard. I’m looking for a fire sale for things I may want to pick up — more so if Swedish interest rates jump up and the government (by some hard-to-have-faith-in miracle) doesn’t end up trying to prop up the residential property market values in the country.
