I figured I would post a follow up after my flight to share my experience. I booked on United.com using miles and obtained the booking code where I could pull up the reservation on Swiss.com. I ended up filling out the Eco Max seat form on Edelweiss.com and chose my seats. I received a email with the receipt and my seat selections. However i sent email to Edelweiss customer service to confirm my seats which they replied and said I was good to go. When i pulled up the seat map on Swiss.com those seats were showing blocked off and the swiss booking showed my seats in the system. I was happy until I started checking my booking regularly over the summer and I noticed the seats were no longer assigned and they were showing open. The swiss app now let me go in and choose seats however it asked for payment which I didn't pay because I already paid Edelweiss. The Ecomax seats were filling up so I had to call their local number in Switzerland using an app on my phone. I would end up doing this repeatedly because every time they would assign seats, 2 days later they were gone again. I was told it was a system malfunction, etc... In the end when it came time to check in all that was left was a pair of decent economy tickets in the rear of the plane. Btw check in was only through Lufthansa.com which I thought was strange. I was told by Edelweiss I would have to address it at the airport since it's out of their hands since check in process had started. I also received email the day prior that the flight was oversold and they were asking for volunteers to take a later flight. The day of departure we showed up 3 hrs early which is when check in was suppose to open however it was already open and a long line. Of course when we reached the desk they had no record of me having Eco max seats. I was willing to pay for business upgrade but it was full. After I proved to them I paid for Ecomax and cleared up some confusion about what we were asking for (I wanted two seats together, one of them aisle) they were then able to find us seats. I don't know why they thought I was asking for two aisle seats or how they were able to give us seats when it was showing all full earlier. What a total mess... besides the boarding process where everyone bum rushed the gate and ignored everything they were being told, the flight was fine. Good leg room, recline, and service. I overheard someone say they were offering $1200 to take later flight. This was Sept 01 and the next flight was Sept 04.
