Quoting airfare as the sum of 4 different passengers' tickets makes this conversation misleading and very hard to follow. Let's just focus on the cost of ONE ticket.

$500 per person RT for peak summer travel on AA from a midcon hub to Alaska sounds like a very good fare this far out.
