Aircraft down gauge then up gauge with PS

I had a paid (A fare) flight on a Boeing 767-300ER that had a PS cabin. About 2 months ago, the aircraft was down-gauged to a non PS Boeing 767-300 ER and I was moved to ComfortPlus. My fare class moved to W (not SU). I was not offered down-gauge compensation or fare difference, and was advised at the time that it may be re-upgagued and I could go back.

Fast forward to this weekend, the aircraft now has a PS cabin again. Call in, was told initially I cannot "upgrade" from Comfort Plus to Premium Select. I have the agent look at my PNR and see that I paid for PS. She said that since I "accepted the downgrade" vs taking another routing in PS (which would have required an additional layover), that I had been reticketed in Comfort Plus and I would have to pay.

I asked for a supervisor who said the same thing.

To be clear, I never got any fare difference or downgrade compensation. Therefore, I paid for a product that I am now being told I must pay MORE for, to get my original seats back. My ticket was never (to my knowledge) reissued after the initial down-gauge because I never got a receipt for me in Comfort Plus; it just shows that I'm now seated there and my fare class says W.

I'm wondering if I should actually try the texting service where I can send them a screenshot of my original receipt that shows I PAID for PS? Other suggestions?

TL;DR - Paid for PS. Downgraded and moved to C+. Reupgauged to aircraft with PS. Agents say I have to pay, despite never paying me to downgrade in the first place (and my receipt still saying A fare).
