There is more than one way for the lounge operator to shut down menu orders coming from the people from the school of "better to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission" on civil matters. How and how fast the lounge operator gets there -- if they haven't gotten there already -- will be interesting to note.
I am not a fan of this development, but it's not like the lounge's finances would hold up all that well for very long at this time if they were to get paid in the sub-$33 range per visitor but were compelled to deliver all the same goods to the legions of passengers there who are not Virgin Atlantic premium pax.
For my trips, this is an unwelcome change but it also isn't all that great a loss. I'm usually fine with the buffet at the TK lounge@IAD, if I really care to eat in a lounge before my flights out of IAD.
