WestJet didn't say whether the suspended routes will be re-introduced in the spring.
My guess is that they won't - these "suspended" routes are the remaining DH4 routes out of YHZ, ending Encore operations altogether in Atlantic Canada. Unless a route can support a 737, it seems unlikely that WestJet will serve it.
From the end of October, YHZ DH4 operations look like:
- Daily YHZ-YYT
- 08:15 from YHZ
- 11:10 from YYT
- 3 weekly YHZ-YOW
- 17:00 from YHZ
- 19:15 from YOW
- Thu, Fri & Sun
Based on the above, it looks like a single DH4 will be based at YOW and operate 1 or 2 short return flights each day - not particularly good crew or aircraft utilization.
At the moment, it looks like the last scheduled Atlantic Canada Encore flight will be on January 9, with WS3421 operating from YYT to YHZ.
