Also TYO based and yes, the flight have been packed. My recent flights out of Narita were filled with connecting passengers from the South Pacific (ie: Guam) and elsewhere in Asia. I'm guessing the high number of passengers being connectors and not locals might be the issue? Because most people in Tokyo prefer HND. (It only costs me ¥1500 and 40 mins on the bus from my station, or it's a 40-60 min car ride, depending on the time of day. Getting to Narita is more than double the cost and takes twice as long.)

I purposefully am flying back to Tokyo on my upcoming trip with a stopover in HNL just to take ANA to HND because of this.

I miss my HND > LAX route.
