Able to Get Flying Club Miles for This?

I just got back from a JNB-LHR-ATL-SAT trip with the JNB-LHR-ATL segments on Virgin in Premium Economy. After the flights, I was wondering why I didn't receive any SkyPesos for the Virgin legs and it turns out that my booking for those segments was in G class, therefore earning nothing on Delta. Though I would have liked the EQDs, EQMs and miles, it wouldn't have been a make or break for me even if I had realized this ahead of time.

Is it possible to join the Flying Club now and at least get the 5628 miles that I would have earned if I had had a Virgin account and credited it earlier. Or is there no going back and crediting my Virgin segments to Virgin and Delta segments to Delta? These were ticketed as DL flights. I would just like something for my 20 hours BIS. Also, my DL Skymiles number is on the boarding passes, if that will matter, though I didn't receive anything for these flights.

Thanks.
