I have had to call in and talk to a specialist which takes hours and hours. Then they finally release the actual hotel booking number. So annoying.
I came to the site just now to gripe/ask about something similar -- I've made a Hilton booking via Chase travel, and the Chase booking number is essentially <3 digits>--<7 digits>. I tried the 7 digits to lookup the reservation on Hilton's site and it doesn't work. [ No real reason it should, I was just hopeful that Chase Travel had done something rational with the number they get from Hilton that made it easy for customers to get Hilton's booking number from their booking number]
You had to call Hilton's toll free line or or the hotel directly to get the actual Hilton booking number?
I suppose I can give them my HHonors number on checking in? I do have Hilton Gold, although I doubt they'll honor it for a cxTravel booking
