Good question! I'll check it when I get home later this week. It wasn't easy to open up the zipper lining (without a zipper head, why would they remove the pull tab!?) and peel back all the tape to see if the nuts were loose originally (of course they are rivets now). I'll eyeball it to see if you're right about the shaft being bent. That would make a lot of sense.

I think this bag is about 5 years old. I assume this is still covered until Tumi's warranty if I put in a claim?
