I don't think it's too pesky. Given that the T&Cs are clear (I mean pretty much clear on this - we have to start somewhere) that a member can receive qualifying nights for only one room but points for up to three rooms on a given night then the logical "correct nights and points" for the nested stays that we're talking about (ie. stays with different reservation numbers which may or may not be at different hotels but are booked under the same Bonvoy member account) would result in the correct number of nights being the number of nights on the longer stay without duplication for the nights stayed in the nested stay and the number of points would be the points earned normally on spend for both stays possibly including the welcome bonus (T&Cs are silent on this).
One of the many problems is that Bonvoy nights and points post after check out and the nested stay's nights and points will therefore post first (presumably correctly for that nested stay) however the IT cannot cope with the subsequent post for the longer stay because it somehow detects a date clash and panics and doesn't know what to do. My position is that this is an IT problem and not a T&C problem because I'm not fantasising about what I want the T&Cs to be but just going with the logical reading of them is as they stand. But whether you're fantasising or just reading logically doesn't matter right now. The IT doesn't work for nested stays.
