The saddest thing about this thread (and other similar ones) is that some people are so attached to their main loyalty programme that they struggle to contemplate staying at a different hotel chain (or independent hotel) for a couple of nights.

The rules are clear. How hotel chains deal with overlapping stays is clear. Act accordingly...
