Do you know if it's confirmed that you can deduct the $55/mo in fees ($660 yearly) from the $695 engagement bonus when it comes time to do taxes? I know that the Morgan Stanley 1099 started posting this year since the engagement bonus increased, but I don't know if there's an area of your tax return where you can report a $660 fees deduction with respect to that bonus, or if Morgan Stanley skips sending you a 1099 because you didn't qualify for a fee waiver so your effective bonus after fees is only $35 (=$695-$660).
Good point and I actually didn't think about that 😂
But I just went back and look at the tax forms and it says:
FORM 1099 REPORTING NOT REQUIRED
The above noted account did not meet the minimum reporting threshold for the 2021 tax year.
