Dear Me - Theft or not theft? I neither know nor care. For me, it is a matter of good manners. The food and drink is put out for consumption on the premises. It is not there to stock up your bag - but blind eyes are passed as frankly what do bags of crisps or cans of coke matter whether they would have been consumed anyway. Still I think that an element of common sense applies. Would any of those taking anything show them to the Lounge Managers on a "just stocking up for the road" basis? Given that most complaints that I read here about onboard are never mentioned at the time to someone who could do something about it, I think people would be loathe to admit that they were taking anything. I have watched people and they are somewhat surreptitious with stashing their supplements. I watched someone doing this not long ago at the Flounge. He saw me watching and visibly was displeased. I knew that he was not going to admit anything and unless he had kicked off, I would not bother. I have enough to concern me when I am travelling without concerning myself for someone squirrelling away a bag of crisps.

However what staggers me are these people who go off to forage for anything and who leave their phones, Ipads or equivalent lying around charging or otherwise for quite some time - if I saw something that looked like someone who was not the person who left it there trying to unplug it. On one occasion I happened to notice that a phone had been left on a charge and was there for over 20 minutes. I went over and asked whose it was. The people looked at me as if they had just received an ill-bred interruption to anything but no one came forward. I thought that it was possible that the phone had been forgotten - Lord knows how easy that is. So took that lot to the Receptionist at the Flounge.. She put a call out in the Lounge. Coincidentally a man arrived laden with Duty Free and said that it was his. Far from thanked I was told that it was none of my business. I told his that true that it was, I had only done what I hope someone would have done for me. The Lounge Manager had arrived and was haing none of it. He told this man that it was very fortunate that it had not been stolen and that this Lady had been concerned that it had been lost. Gracious unto the end he stomped off back into the Lounge and I was invited to the CCR - although I am not entirely sure why. Whilst this has nothing to do with pinching stuff from the Lounge - it amazes me what people think passes for normal behaviour aboard or it would seem on the ground
