EVA on-line booking with a virtual credit card(?)
Bit of a predicament, hoping somebody out there can weigh in. Not a FFP question, rather Capital One Bank Visa and related issue on EVA Air check-in process.
Have a Capital One Bank Venture Visa card, been accruing 2x miles since COVID began 3-odd years ago and now ready to fly BKK > LAX on EVA.
Been through 4 full booking processes on EVA website but when it comes to final payment, Capital One Visa card triggers the Verified by Visa process, and seems the only way to get the security code is by SMS Text message. I live overseas, don't have a US Cell#, only a US Skype#, which can't receive SMS. Used to be an email option but that's gone, apparently. Avoiding a call to Capital One as they are sensitive about overseas/expat customers, so trying to find a work around instead of opening that can of worms.
I see this ENO browser extension on the Capital One banking site, generating a Virtual Credit Card number to use for on-line shopping/payments. If I can get it to work, my questions are:
(1) does it work with an EVA Air booking and if so;
(2) is there any confusion with the EVA staff when checking in at the airport, where they typically want to see/verify the physical credit card used to pay for the tickets. I'll have the Venture Visa card on me of course, just not sure how this virtual card works in this scenario.
Shot in the dark, maybe somebody has some practical experience with this. Thanks, NC.
