Maraschino cherries don't taste right to me unless they come out of a Rye Manhattan.

My dad drank those on special occasions, when we were dining out, when I was a kid. It was always a battle between my brother and me who got the cherry. At one point, Dad took to ordering them with 2 cherries to prevent bloodshed in the back seat on the way home.
These days, if a parent pulled the cherry out of a cocktail and gave it to a kid, somebody would probably call CPS
