How far in advance were you notified of this change?
3 weeks was the notice, as AmEx traveled called me up from a overseas office to notify me of the flight downgrade, then told me either to contact the airline or AmEx travel-- no options were provided at that time.
Funny that I received a reminder upcoming travel e-mail from AmEx travel this past weekend still showing the TATL Premium Economy cabin, but the SWISS e-mail had coach for all cabins (AmEx travel still hasn't updated its system) As a side point, the first leg from CHS-ORD was booked on a UA flight number in a M fare class, and as UA 1K I should have automatically cleared into 1st with a M fare, but this is for the UA forum and lack of automatic upgrades.
AmEx Travel is just as guilty as SWISS, as the International Airline Program is for Platinum members paying a $695 annual fee and Centurion members paying a $10,000 initiation/$5,000 annual fee. I'm glad that JPMorgan Chase will be launching a new travel agency latter this year and AmEx Travel will have to step up its customer service recovery.
