Avanti have gutted their timetable but are still unable to run even that reliably. Your chances of finding your train cancelled, and having to stand like a sardine on a later one, are sadly rather high right now.
flights out of MAN are too early in the day to work for me, unless I go for a one way car rental the train appears to be my only option.
