In the 1980s Bob Crandall and AA ruined PeoplExpress with simple (by today's standards) yield management and primitive fare bucketing. PE had two flavors of fares, peak and off-peak, and AA ran circles around them. Now we are on the threshold of AI / machine learning-assisted dynamic individualized pricing to maximize yield not only on every flight, but from every customer, in every currency, in every situation. It will be very interesting to see what's ahead and how customers take it.
