I stayed here last night as an alternative to a Gatwick airport hotel ahead of an early flight. Short walk to East Croydon station which has direct trains to the airport. Note that you should come out of the new footbridge exit which is towards the centre of the platform (stairs and lifts) rather than the ramp at the "country" end of the platform.

Tried online check in and digital key. Digital key wouldn't deploy and said I needed to go to reception. Reception clerk took my ID and photocopied it, I informed him that this was not going to wash as it would be a GDPR violation. He was unable to provide a satisfactory reason for keeping copies of the ID (it was "for the files" and would be kept "for about a month"). I prevailed upon him to shred the copy in front of me.

Digital key activated at that stage but didn't work in the lift so needed to use card key for that and to activate the electrics in the room.

We had a room on the 4th floor which was compact and unremarkable. Pretty hard double bed and sofa bed. Sliding door to the washroom (with shower). Toiletries in large bottles bolted to the wall. The sliding door blocked the wardrobe area and digital safe when open.

Room door has a manual limiter which is welcome in the current days of "we will inspect your room daily".

We got dinner in the Wendy's less than 10 minutes walk away and left the hotel too early to benefit from the complimentary breakfast.
