Just got back from a four night stay which was exceptional until hurricane Kay. Definitely never coming back in Sept or Oct! (Lesson #2)

Stayed 1 night in Dos Mares Jr Suite #27. Let’s just say a lot of times you gotta try something to know you don’t like it. The dislike is mainly bc of the obstructed view and being way too close to the live music at Don Manuel’s which doesn’t stop until 9 or 10pm every night. Aside from that, it’s a good location if you want to be close to Don Manuel’s, adult infiniti pool, gift shop, etc; however, the obstructed view (due to beachfront unit directly in front) is def an eye sore. Also, since this is a jr suite, it doesn’t have a desk if you want to use your laptop to work, etc.

The next 3 nights were in a 3BR OV Villa, #930. This unit was absolutely incredible, as many have already stated in this thread. I initially assumed being central would be key but that’s definitely not the case once you see the lovely panoramic view (sweeping east to west) from the master BR terrace, covering the entire beach and ocean, all the way to El Farallon. Also, if you have children, this is the same bldg as the kid’s club and beach club, and right next to the kid’s pool (circular) and kid’s pool (infiniti). The property isn’t that wide so it’s quite easy to get from one end to the other. And if for whatever reason you don’t feel like walking, you can easily request a golf cart ride via text msg or simply ask one of the many workers.

One thing I did want to bring up was my experience at SJD airport. I followed the advice of many others in this thread, which was to get an Uber by dropping the pin slightly outside of the airport, then messaging the driver to pick us up from oxxo. Well, I did that and the driver asked to meet at the gas station instead. Thing is, after we got in and started to drive towards the airport exit, the police (who def had us scoped out) pulled us over and the rest is history. We ended up fleeing the scene and grabbed an airport cab to take us to HP Los Cabos, where we spent our first night (to check out the San Jose del Cabo area, Flora Farms, etc.) before heading to WA. A ~20m airport cab cost us 900 pesos (~$45 usd) which was 5-6x more than the initial uber cost—an expected rip off but it is what it is. We didn’t bother to negotiate and were glad to pay it after our horrendous Uber experience. Lesson learned #1

After WA, we also did 1 night at The Cape which was more so eye candy in a superficial sense (vegas vibes, el arco, surfers, etc.), along with an exceptional breakfast at Manta. No Globalist upgrade to a jr suite or thompson suite, even though they were showing as available on the app, bc the front desk was most likely playing games. I messaged Hyatt concierge via twitter, who said they would contact the hotel and have the hotel reach out to me directly but we never heard anything. All in all, the Cape is def a cool spot to check out but we’re def never going back as it’s not our style. Highly prefer WA and that 3BR OV Villa!!!
