Canarsie asked:

On a more serious note, would the dinner be a meat-based or dairy-based meal?

We will probably go to a restaurant that offers meat dishes but it also have a number of non-meat offerings (salads, etc.)

In either case, what entrées and other selections can typically be expected on the menu?

It is much too early to answer. We could wind up in an Italian restaurant, a Chinese restaurant, a Eastern European one, or a Middle Eastern one. There are kosher restaurants of these varieties -- and more -- near the major hotels.

Finally, are there any good Kosher delicatessens in Israel that resemble the ones in New York?

No, that is an American invention. The closest thing you will find is Tal's Bagels (bagels are also American) where you can get bagels and lox or some good chopped liver on bagels.
