for those of you going to visit Alila, I have some tips for you, I just finished my 3 nights stay there literally just today.
I’m a globalist, booked beach villa and got upgraded to lagoon water villa. The room is great, fresh and modern design. However, compared to the former Alila, aka Park Hyatt nowadays, the room space is much smaller than PH, significantly. The closest is very small, you only fit for one small luggage, period, you have to put your luggage on the floor if you have a large one. outdoor pool space is large but how often do you stay outside with the sun?
food is the best, WAY better than PH, not even comparable. Prices are very reasonable, please make sure you order the seafood for share for ONLY $140, which come with 4 lobsters 4 large tiger shrimps and fish and octopus. The cheapest grill seafoods I have among five resorts I had stayed in Maldives.
and surprisingly, drinking still water is free of charge at the restaurant! Don’t look cheap and bring the water bottle from your room lol.
All water villas and beach villas have the extra same layout. But private for the water villas are not that good, literally your neighbors can see what you’re doing.
Unlike PH, the activities at Alila are outsourced, you don’t feel the same level of services from The resort management team. I joined the 3hrs tips to the Hanifaru bay, and I was the first guest they have done this trip. Small boat and not comfortable… and pricy, costed $1440 for the trip. If you wanna do private island trip please do that with PH, you will not be disappointed!
also, they are still building the sandbank private island, and they’re going to make it for the private dinner/picnic. And some of the rooms are still at work, not all rooms are available for guest yet.
SPA is great, know exactly what I need but not as good as StR, normal price, $200 for a 90min massage.
in general, it’s one of the best Maldives island I have ever stayed. if you want to have a full resort experience then wait for a couple more months for them to get ready. Nothing negative, just not completed.
