Does anyone know whether you could book with points and upgrade with additional cash to get the water villa? We're deciding between PH and the Alila. The PH allows it with the cost being the differential of the cash rate.
i just finished my stay at Alila and I have also been to Park Hyatt last year same time.
both allow paid upgrade but for Alila it’s not worth it because all water villas have the extra same layout, the difference is only positioning of the pool and facing of the sun. I’m globalist, got upgraded from beach to water lagoon, room 218, my room is looking straight to the sun on sunrise everyday.
for PH, I got upgraded to room #1, best beach villa beside #2&3 and their other one with larger pool. The paid upgrade at PH is way too much, and the cost of benefit is very low. I don’t recommend doing paid upgrade on either if you’re a globalist.
