I know most people disagree - but I don't like CS at all for sleeping - I'd take a good upper deck (for space) J seat to sleep anytime - I find the space for the feet constricting and you can only lie comfortably on one side - and not the other depending on which CS seat you have. For a day-flight - I'd obviously prefer CS. AA's Panasonic internet is dreadful - the only reason AA is not a clear winner for day flights. Personally - I avoid CS for over-night and would pick AA over old BA J (if I can select one of the few seats I like).

I have done VS once during Covid and it was OK during Covid (3 people in J) - I would hate that seat if it was full - like sardines
