Or would I be able to clear the security directly at T3 (would they let me in?) and then get airside to T5 (by going to arrivals using escort and taking a bus)?

Anyways, spending 2 hours transferring is definitely not something I am looking for. I just strongly prefer the Centurion lounge to the Aspire lounge so was hoping it would be just an easy bus transfer.
You will not be allowed to go through departures security at T3 with a boarding pass from T5.

If you're originating from London and departing T5, and want to get to T3, you would need to:
  1. Go to T5
  2. Clear departures security at T5 normally
  3. Go on the train to T5C
  4. Stay on the train when it says get off, and hope that there are no staff there who shoo you off
  5. Go back on the train to T5A
  6. You are now in T5A arrivals/connections
  7. Take the connection bus to T3
  8. Clear transfer security at T3
  9. Do whatever business you have at T3
  10. Convince T3 staff to let you back to T3 connections
  11. Take the bus back to T5
  12. Go to a BA desk and explain why you need to get your boarding pass reset to go through again
  13. Go through T5 Ready to Fly checks
  14. Clear transfer/departures security at T5
  15. Go get your flight.
This only works because T3 connecting flight desks are after security, so they can't stop passengers on connecting flights, who mightn't have a boarding pass for whatever reason, from going through security there.

You will not, I suspect, be surprised when I say that this rather interminable process is most unlikely to be worth it for the sake of whatever goodies might be in the lounge.
