I would like to say the Marriott site currently is behaving very erractically. I have been checking award night availability on properties in Cairo. About a week ago a few particular nights ALL properties were showing cash rates only on the search result screen. I was fooled by this a few times. Then I thought this could not be true so I clicked thru the View Rate to see what exactly were available. Then I saw in the Rate screen, on the top of the screen there were POINT booking, shown as From xxxxx points. I chose that tab, lo and behold, it showed the points AND points plus cash availability.
Then a few days passed, the days that on search result screen before only show cash rates, now returned to the more "normal" display with available properties showing point level while non-available properties showing cash rates.
You DO need to click View Rate first even you see no point available on the result screen.
Firstly, you must have an Amex card linked. When you login it by default selects that and thus even when there is point availability some hotels show only a cash rate (don't know why). If you log out you will be able to have a normal view. This is on the desktop. On the app it seems to work ok.
Marriott site has never ceased to demonstrate HOW USER UNFRIENDLY it can get.
Since I am complaining the website issues, the website that could NOT modify the dates once you viewed a property, remains the same. For the desktop and regardless the browser, I have to return to the BonVoy Home Page to start the search anew. Cannot do any date change or rate change, once after viewing a property. It gets stuck there even when you clicked the EDIT, the screen showed up but would not response to any change you wanted to make.
For me sometimes I cannot change the date even before clicking on search, from the homepage. So I have to use today's date (or whatever date it is) and then search, and then I can change the date.
