If you ask when you get to the airport, they should give you a forward seat if they have one left (get there early if the flight looks full). If you absolutely need a certain seat, buy it; but, even the ULCC ground handlers are human beings and will usually accommodate reasonable requests, especially from incapacitated passengers.
