Too many purchasers, FCM, and DMs through ATL to expect anything.
And even DMs don't clear. My partner and I were on separate tickets on ATL-DCA this week, and he was one of 8 DMs who didn't clear.
OP also seems to think Sunday afternoon is a purely "leisure" time to travel, but for any Delta DM (or PM) who has to be at a business meeting Monday morning and is based in FLL, a Sunday afternoon FLL-ATL flight is the flight to take.
OP, the number of seats available in F is not the same as the number of seats available for F upgrades. That there are 7 seats throughout the cabin five days out doesn't necessarily mean *anyone* is being upgraded at that point. It is very common to see 5-9 seats available in F 5 days before a flight and then end up not getting upgraded, even for diamonds.
