My thought is that if they are going to do something they will wait until the start of the new year. A lot cheaper to do it all at once.
When they had these there was a point in the year when they stopped sending them out, holding the rest for the end of the year, but I thought it was a bit later, maybe around mid-October or so.
Anyway, that all assumes they're going to do welcome kits again. But I could understand putting that decision off to the end of the year, and mailing all in January.
I've said elsewhere they should at least send out electronic drink coupons - easier to handle anyway. FAs could scan a QR code in flight and it would come out of your account.
