Obviously BA know which aircraft they plan to fly us with later, but is it a new feature that BA are publishing? More to the point is it reliable / accurate?
You can see the same thing on Flightaware. As the details are filed these sites pick up the data and publish it, and it's not just BA. What you'll also sometimes see on Flightaware is the planned route but this only comes up a few hours before the flight and, I haven't checked thoroughly, but I've only seen it on flights to, from and within the USA. As an example here's the route for STBM which is currently over Newfoundland:
