I can't argue with the not booking direct part though. I've spent too much time on the phone with AmEx this year with people who did not know what they were doing.
At .05-.07 per point I can't find a "highest and best" use of MR points better than that, for me. But with only 2 J seats, reportedly, reserved per flight as award space when they're released a year in advance it's only applicable to a small minority (unless you're willing to risk last minute availability on a wait list for the additional award space releases).
If I have to pay the cash price, I'd rather do that direct than get only .01-.012 per point in value.
Does anyone know how much the transfer bonus usually is when it's ANA in the rotation?
