Just returned from my Labor Day DEN stay. After posting this question, Hyatt quietly extended the Healthcare Hero rate until the end of the year. Recent availability has been quite limited in most locations, but Denver was wide open and I managed to get the Thompson for $169/night, which was less than I was going to pay for any of the other hotels in town without the HH rate. I actually managed to get two rooms for that rate, and even better still, I got GLOB benefits for both rooms! I have to say that the location of the Thompson was just about perfect: only a couple blocks from Union Station, along with a plethora of dining/drinking options. We passed by the other downtown Hyatt hotels, and this location definitely has the rest beat for sure. Fortunately, the free mall ride bus makes getting around downtown fairly easy, so the other locations are acceptable and still have relatively easy access to the airport via train/shuttle service. The service and design of the Thompson was very good, as to be expected from the newest addition to the brand. I am still unable to answer my original question, but I absolutely recommend the Thompson. Otherwise, the GH would have been my go-to.

My arrival into DEN was an absolute nightmare, as our plane was rerouted to CO Springs due to an unexpected storm in DEN. We spent 4 hours on the ground waiting for the lightning to stop for long enough to allow for refueling. I ended up arriving at 2 am and missing the last airport train. Fortunately, the person we were meeting in town for the concert drove in to Denver from NE and had a car to pick us up. For parking, he was able to find an underground lot a few blocks away, under the Dairy Block, for the absurdly low price of $24 all weekend, including in/out privileges.
