My wife and I are fine with being upgraded to first even if we don't sit together, however, it seems that we're being passed over by Delta's automatic upgrade system because there are only singles available in first.

Does Delta's automatic upgrade algorithm only upgrade a couple if there are two seats together in first? Is there a way to tell Delta that we don't mind getting upgraded even if we don't end up sitting together? Or does that only work with the gate-upgrades?
