I'm booked to travel CTG-AMS in J on the 1st Jan. I will then require an onward flight to LCY, my question is:
Will KLM allow me to add a AMS-LCY leg to the existing ticket (would it need to be same class?) and therefore same PNR for the purpose of checking luggage all of the way through from CTG to LCY
If not, will KLM allow me to check luggage in CTG all the way through to LCY with separate tickets/PNRs?
If they do not, how long should I allow in AMS to collect luggage and then recheck?
I'm aware of the current operation issues at AMS, are these expecting to be any better by Dec/Jan? Any other tips gratefully received.
Many thanks
Yes, it is possible to modify your existing booking to add another flight to LCY but it could lead to a significant price increase due to a possible change of fare of your CTG-AMS flight. You can ask KL and then you can decide if you modify the ticket or if you book separately.
If separate ticket, it will be no problem to check bags through till final destination, if you are all on KL (the risk of refusal is low). Bags or no bags to collect in AMS, it is advisable in general to have at least 3-4 hrs between the flights to cope with possible delays. Regarding the AMS situation, I'm afraid no one has a crystal ball to know how it will be in January.
