My recent experience last month flying from JFK-SFO upgraded me from economy to business class two days before the flight and about 40 minutes before the flight upgraded me to first class. This is the first time that I got upgraded from economy all the way to first class on a 3 cabin aircraft. I wished they would upgrade me earlier to first class so that I could have take advantage of the dining service. Anyway, I guess this is one of the rarer occasion even with executive platinum status.
