It's interesting--if you parse out the fine print of the Hertz AAA benefits, nowhere (at least that we could find) does it actually state that you must book with a AAA CDP, but despite that, the additional driver fee will only be waived by Hertz's system if you do.

We've seen situations where the AAA CDP was not the best deal, but the person needed the free additional driver benefit and ended up booking with the AAA CDP to waive the fee, which ended up being less expensive overall even though the base rate was higher. You could try to show your AAA card at the counter and argue that the terms do not require the booking to use a AAA CDP (there are many), but we think that argument would not be successful despite the lack of a written requirement since Hertz's system is obviously coded to require it for the fee to be waived.
