Is the Insurance really as good as Chase Saph Reserve? It appears to be.
I am Platinum Preferred honors and currently use the Unlmtd Cash Rewards Card (2.625%) for non-bonused categories and have 5 Regular Cash Rewards (MLB, Regular, Komen, etc) that I use for the bonus categories (5.25%).
I am thinking about this card for non-bonused categories. I have earned $600 back on UCR so far this year, so That would be worth $750 on flights, thus covering the extra $100 fee after credits.
I will keep Chase Sapphire Reserve though. After the 50% bonus for Pay Yourself Back - Rental Cars (15%) and Flights (7.5%) alone cover the extra fee there. I also have Chase Ink Cash that I put phone and internet on which gets a 5% back plus 50% more when I combine with CSR.
Also, I am glad to see some BOA fans in here. As long as you have $100k at Merrill, it is the best credit card option all around I think. But I rake on CSR too.
I would love a BOA Section on here.
1. Yes
2. Not sure since I only had the card for 9 months. I read somewhere that CSR has better travel insurance. I wll also be going back to BofA Premium card with $95 fee. Im tired dealing with coupon cards.
This card is only worth it if you fly a lot. Looks like you have a great setup. If you have lots of mobile wallet purchases, i would suggest pairing US Bank Altitude reserve. You get 3x on all travel charges made directly and 3x on mobile walltet category like apple pay and google pay. Those points are 1.5 towards travel charges on card. In other words, you'll earn 4.5% on these categories. My currrent setup going to be bofa premium cards 2.625-3.5, UCR 5.25 online and altitude reserve for apple pay. I say 90% of my charges are apple pay.
