40 mins is right at the MCT, as with a lot of these type questions if your DEN-DFW is on time then you'll be fine, although the LHR flight will most likely be boarding by the time you arrive at the gate.

That said it really depends on your risk tolerance for missing the flight. AA50 is the last DFW-LHR flight, and you're leaving DEN to late to catch the BA DEN-LHR nonstop, so any delay and you're most likely spending the night in Dallas.
