I'm not sure getting EVA status / collecting on EVA is going to get you extra EVA award space than what is already available. The status is really only good for getting to the front of the waitlist.

The good news is the IAH flights usually have significantly more award space availability than flights to a city like LAX, but that doesn't vary between mileage programs.
